Outcome AGM 20th February 2013
The Commodore reported that the club is in good health, that the membership is stable, the finances had benefited from good sponsorship income, the club has had some bigger maintenance issues taken care of and the new rescue boat has arrived. Membership remained broadly in line with the previous year. Membership was between 50 and 60 and 12 new members joined in 2012.
The Treasurer explained that this was the first year the club had produced P&L/Balance sheet accounts. The numbers were reviewed and some more detail of the expenses were explained to those present.
The Sailing Secretary confirmed that racing has been regular during the year and is still the best method of improving skills within the club. He also confirmed that the racing programme for the new year should include some offshore sailing now the new rescue boat is available but that strict rules governing offshore sailing should be applied. He reminded the members that we now have 2 signature races in the year and that it was likely that the Mercury Sogakope race and the Vodafone Regatta would remain on the calendar for 2013.
The existing committee stood down and the elections for the new committee were determined. The new committee was welcomed and the new details are shown on the Contact page.
The new Commodore pledged his commitment to the club and welcomed his new committee to the members present. He also thanked the outgoing Commodore and advised that the new committee would arrange a committee meeting in the near future. The new Commodore proposed he would like to build a Jetty for the club to provide a seating area and also to provide a safer mooring for the new rescue boat.
